Life is a remarkable journey, filled with highs and lows, challenges and triumphs. Along the way, we encounter invaluable lessons that shape our perspectives, redefine our priorities, and guide us towards personal growth. From the wisdom of our Mentor these life lessons carry a spiritual essence that resonates deeply within us. Our Mentor teaches us 32 important and practical lessons and quick tips to lead a more purposeful life. This blog is the first of part of these 32 lessons.
LESSON 1 – Money Will Never Solve Your Real Problems:
As Louise Hay said, “The point of power is always in the present moment.” While financial stability is essential, chasing material wealth alone will not bring lasting happiness. Instead, focus on the abundance of love, gratitude, and meaningful connections that enrich your existence.
Our mentor says, “Money is a good servant, but a bad master, and that it can buy a bed, but not sleep”.
This is a very compelling statement. Money or material accomplishments are good to give us comfort in our life, but they won’t drive joy, happiness, and purpose in our life. This is the first change in perspective that the Spiritual Master brings about in our life.
LESSON 2 – Pace Your Life:
One of the most practical lessons our mentor teaches is to find a sustainable balance between activity and stillness. Embrace the art of balance and learn to listen to your inner voice. A well-paced life allows for growth, reflection, and the ability to appreciate the beauty in each moment. Inability to pace our lives in the achievement-oriented world cause stress, and anxiety. Life isn’t about how many things you have achieved; it’s about the consistency of practice.
Bruce lee said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
LESSON 3 – You Can’t Please Everyone:
It is not possible and even practical to make everyone happy, and if we try, we may end up making ourselves unhappy. Our mentor says, “Say to yourself, I am Ocean of Love.” This self-talk firmly establishes us in true and spiritual Love, and this perspective allows us to naturally live with a loving attitude. With this shift, we can embrace the freedom that comes with living authentically.
LESSON 4 – Your Health Is Your Most Valuable Asset:
As we navigate the beautiful journey of life, let us remember that our health is our greatest asset. Indian sports legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Mary Kom exemplify the importance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being.
“A healthy mind in a healthy body is a temple worth visiting.” – P. T. Usha
Our mentor says that without good health, achieving success in any aspect of life is meaningless. Nurturing our body through regular exercise, nourishing foods, and self-care practices like Satsang, Meditation, and Naam Jap help rejuvenate mind, and puts things in perspective.
LESSON 5 – You Don’t Always Get What You Want:
Life doesn’t always unfold according to our desires, but as Louise Hay wisely states, “You have the power to heal your life.” Embrace the lessons hidden within disappointments and setbacks. Our mentor teaches us to Cultivate resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering belief that God guides us through the life’s detours often lead to unexpected blessings and growth opportunities.
Our mentor says, “God may not give you what you want, but he gives what you need”.
Living life with gratitude brings about a sense of fulfillment. Morgan Housel, a very well-known author suggests that the most important financial skill is to define how much is enough, and that happiness is results minus expectations.
LESSON 6 – It’s Not All About You:
Dr. Wayne Dyer reminds us, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” This quote teaches us to shift our perspective from self-centeredness to empathy and compassion. Our mentor has always taught us to think and talk in terms of other. One of the biggest leadership qualities is the ability to think about the benefit of others. Empathy, compassion, and generosity helps us recognize that true fulfillment lies in contributing to the well-being of others, lifting them up, and creating a positive impact in the world.
LESSON 7 – There Is No Shame In Not Knowing:
Life is about learning. The most successful people in life have one thing is common, they embrace the humility to admit that they have a lot to learn. Indian sports legends like Milkha Singh and PV Sindhu became icons by persevering through failures and constantly learning from their experiences. Our mentor teaches us to approach life with a curious mind, remain open to new ideas, and understand that wisdom grows from a place of continuous learning.
LESSON 8 – Love Is More Than A Feeling; It’s A Choice:
Love is an act of faith, not an exchange. Love is a conscious decision to extend compassion and understanding towards ourselves and others. Love is a leadership choice; it’s about putting others’ needs before our own comfort. Our mentor teaches us the love that is expressed in our being and is not only directed to one person, instead makes us the fountainhead of Love. Cultivating love in our attitude, actions, words, and intentions creates a ripple effect of positivity and connection.
LESSON 9 – Perspective Is A Beautiful Thing – You Experience What You Choose To See:
Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you. As Seth Godin reminds us, “The only thing that makes a difference, in the long run, is what you choose to see.” Choose gratitude, optimism, and a perspective that allows you to embrace life’s challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation.
LESSON 10 – Patience Is A Virtue:
Indian sports legends like Viswanathan Anand and Dipa Karmakar teach us the power of patience. Success seldom comes overnight; it requires dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in oneself. Trust the process, stay focused on your goals, and have faith that your efforts will yield results in due time.
