How To Build Confidence and Destroy Fear

All confidence is acquired, developed. No one is born with confidence. Those people you know who radiate confidence, who have conquered worry, who are at ease everywhere and all the time, acquired their confidence, every bit of it.

ACTION CURES FEAR-

Action cures fear, whereas indecision, postponement, on the other hand fertilizes fear. When we are afraid of doing anything like talking to people, answering, doing a new job, taking risk, the best way to overcome fright is start doing the job. Ex. you are afraid of giving interviews, just give 2-3 interviews you will be relaxed and overcome fright.

DEPOSIT ONLY POSITIVE THOUGHTS IN YOUR MEMORY-

Lets face it squarely, everyone encounters plenty of unpleasant, embarrassing and discouraging situations. But successful and unsuccessful people deal with them in directly opposite ways. Unsuccessful people take them to heart. They dwell on the unpleasant situations, thereby giving them a good start in there memory. They don’t take their mind away from them. At night the unpleasant situation is the last thing they think about.

Confident successful on the other hand “don’t give it another thought” successful people specialize in putting positive thoughts into their memory bank.

What kind of performance would your car deliver if every morning before you left for work you scooped up a double handful of dirt and put it into your crankshaft? What will the result of the car be?

Negative thought produce needless wear and fear on your mental motor. They create worry frustration and feeling of inferiority. They put you beside the road while others move ahead.

Here is an excellent plan-just before you go to sleep deposit good positive thoughts in your memory bank. Count your blessings, Recall the many good things you have to be thankful for, Your good parents, money, friends, good health etc. Recall your victories and accomplishments. Withdraw only positive thoughts from your memory bank. Simply destroy the negative thoughts, before those thoughts become mental monsters. A person can make a mental monster out of almost anything, a failure to answer in exam, a bad performance in an exam, a fight with a friend, death of a loved one.

Don’t build mental monsters. Refuse to withdraw the unpleasant thoughts from your memory bank- When you remember situations of any kind, concentrate on the good part of the experience. Forget the bad, bury it. If you find yourself thinking about the negative side, turn your mind completely off.

YOUR MIND WANTS TO FORGET THE UNPLEASANT-

If you will just co-operate unpleasant memories will gradually shrivel and later on your memory bank cancels them out.

In brief it really is easy to forget the unpleasant if we simply refuse to recall it.

Withdraw only positive thoughts from your memory bank, let the others fade out. You conquer your fear when you refuse to remember negative depreciating thoughts.

HOW TO AVOID FEAR OF DEALING WITH PEOPLE-

  • Get a balanced view of the other fellow, you are important too.
  • Develop an understanding attitude. There are people who fight, growl at you, forgive and forget them.
  • Keep your conscience clean-when you do some thing wrong, your conscience eats away your confidence, secondly people sooner or later find out and loose confidence in us. Do what is right and keep your confidence.
  • To think confidently act confidently- People who appear so confident outwardly are also nervous inside. To act confidently-walk straight, smile, don’t frown. So to think confidently act confidently. Act the way you want to feel.

BELOW ARE FIVE CONFIDENCE BUILDING EXERCISES-

  1. Be a front seater- Most folks scramble to sit in the back rows so they don’t be “too conspicuous”. And the reason they are afraid to sit in the front is that they lack confidence. Sitting in front build confidence.
  2. Practice making eye contact- Usually, failure to make eye contact tells us about a person. It may say “I feel weak beside you”. “I feel inferior to you”. “I am afraid of you”. “I feel guilty”. Looking in the other person in the eye tells him, “I am honest”. “I believe in what i am telling you. I am not afraid I am confident”.
  3. Walk 25 percent faster- People who have a dropping posture, sluggish walking shows unpleasant attitude towards oneself. Body action is the result of mind action. Average people have “average walk”. People with confidence walk faster. They have a spirit in the way they walk. Use the 25% faster walking technique. Throw your shoulders back, lift up your head, move faster and feel confident.
  4. Practice speaking up- The more you speak up, the more you add to your confidence, and the easier it is to speak up the next time. Speak up. It’s a confidence building vitamin.
  5. Smile Big- Smile is excellent medicine for confidence deficiency. A big smile beats fear, rolls away worry, defeats despondency. Smile melts opposition. A person can not be angry with you if you give him a big smile. Smile big and you feel like –

“HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN”.

This article is very enlightening, one of the best points that I felt is that successful people and unsuccessful people take hate comments and discouraging situations differently, both of then have a different perspective to it, successful people find a way to grow through such situations whereas unsuccessful people just go through it.
Another point that I really liked is that smile melts opposition.
