Is more enough

Am I satisfied…..? For a moment we may say….. ‘Yes’.

We think ourselves to be a very satisfied person in terms of money, materialistic possessions, studies, job and relationships in comparison to our friends and colleagues. When we receive the Divine Company and guidance of The Master, many self-made facts about us become myths. On a deeper introspection we are slowly able to see the lacuna. We now start discovering the inner dissatisfaction.

It is said that the Divine Company of The Master and Satsang are like a clean mirror where we are able to observe our own mind, thoughts, feelings and emotions.

How much ever love and appreciation we receive, still we are longing for more and more. Even if once someone ignores or scolds, the mind quickly forgets the goodness received in the past. An increment in the salary seems to be less in a few months. How much degrees and certificates we acquire, still we feel discontented.

Buying a new dress never fulfils the desire for another one. And yet there arises an inner voice I want some more‘.

“I wish I had some more pocket money, what I get is not enough for me…. I want the latest mobile, the one I bought a few months back is now outdated…. After the sale of my small car I now have a bigger one, now this car also seems outdated and I wish to have the latest one….

My friend has such a lavish home decor; I want to have my home furnished better than her house.”

Surely these thoughts echo in our mind sometime or the other in our life.

Once a barber had a dream in which God asked him, “I have 9 pitchers out of which 8 1/2 pitchers are filled with gold coins. If you want you can have them but on one condition that you cannot spend the gold coins“.

The barber agreed to it and took the pitchers home. Now he started worrying as to how to fill up the ninth pitcher with gold coins. So he started saving money from his salary in order to buy gold coins. He started becoming weak and ill due to the cut down from his livelihood. Many years passed but the pitcher did not fill up.

One day the King asked the barber, “What has happened to you? Why are you becoming weak day by day?” The barber said, “My salary is not sufficient for my livelihood“. The King increased his salary but in due course of time the health of the barber remained the same. Seeing this, the King asked him, “Even though your salary has been increased still your condition is the same. If I am not wrong, do you have those 8 1/2 pitchers filled with gold coins? Are you trying to fill up the 9th pitcher?”

The barber said, “My Lord, this is exactly what I am trying to do all these months. But the 9th pitcher remains empty“. The King said, “You act like a fool. You are trying to collect the wealth which you can never spend.”

Moral: The mind has a disease called Much Wants More. There is no end to fulfilling these desires. Similarly, we are in a run to accumulate the worldly things which will not accompany us at the end of this life.

The Master says,

“Ask Yourself, Is more enough?

Will I be ever satisfied?

When will the time come when I would not yearn for more in life?

Where lies my true happiness?”

Why is it so that we are never satisfied with what we have?

The Master says, “It is because we do not feel complete inside. There comes a feeling of emptiness or void which we try to fill with the worldly things such as name, fame, appreciation, money, position, materialistic things, relationships etc. We associate our happiness with people, things and situations “We are mistaken to think, “If I get this then I will be happier. My friend is happy because she has this. Therefore I also want the same”. This results into a constant run to accumulate things and to gratify our mind through our five senses.

The Master says, “Avinaashi ko vinaashi tript nahi kar sakta”.

The Divine Master (Satguru) is the only one who tells us that your Real Self is Sat Chit Anand Swaroop i.e. Truth Knowledge Bliss.

Happiness is not found outside, it is your True Self.

Real happiness and satisfaction is in being connected to God (Satguru).

The one whose heart is filled with complete love, faith and devotion for God finds the everlasting fulfilment and bliss within.
