HABITS THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

The Divine guidance of our Mentor helps us to change and improve quality of our life by nurturing good habits.

Here are 21 habits that are helpful in changing our life-

  1. Write at least three things that you are grateful for before sleeping : Before sleeping write 3 things for which you are grateful in your GRATITUDE JOURNAL or in your diary. It is a very healthy habit. If you are unable to write then you can express gratitude verbally. First one is-

O Lord ! Thank you very much for giving us this life. Rest two you can write yourself.

  1. Learn to say No : In life there are a few things for which you have to learn to say NO otherwise it creates disturbance in your life and wastes your time. Unknowingly you create such situations that bring emotional baggage in your life. In such situations it is better to say No.
  1. Do ONE minute exercise after getting up : After getting up in the morning, Some people  feel energetic while some feel lazy and don’t feel like getting up from bed. If you are feeling lazy, do one minute exercise on the bed itself, like – Rubbing hands, placing them on your eyes and doing some stretching.
  1. Invest in experience : People spend too much on branded things instead of investing time, money and energy on learning something new. People who are enthusiastic and keep doing something new for the betterment of others, live long. We need to learn to invest our time, money, energy in learning something new and gain experience in order to improve quality of our life.
  1. Organize your home : “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. We need to spend just 15 minutes everyday to organize our home. The things that are of no use must be removed immediately. A well kept house transforms your mental set up. Apply the formula of “ BUY ONE, GIVE ONE.” A messy house creates cluttering in your mind. We must learn to de-clutter our house, our phone as well as our mind.
  1. Manage your money : Learn the art to spend as well as save your money wisely. Do not be a miser who saves all money or a spendthrift who spends all his money. Balance in life is important. Along with money learn to save time. Whenever we get time we must read a book or go for a walk. We must keep ourselves creatively busy. If we have to work on mobile or computer for long hours, then take short breaks of 5 minutes and do some stretching. If we are feeling sleepy, we must lie down on bed and sleep, otherwise stand up and be actively engaged in some work, Do not lie down unnecessarily.
  1. In life make it a habit of looking forward : Don’t brood on what has happened instead focus on what can be done in future. We have to learn to deal with all kinds of situations in life.
  1. Open ended questions improve your communication skills: Improve your communication skills by learning to interact with open ended questions. If we want to continue our conversation with the person then talk in terms of other person’s interest.
  1. Choose notification free life : Keep your mobile away while doing constructive work. This will help you to keep your mind stress free. Keep yourself busy, but stress free. Notifications in your mobile spoil the quality of your work and distract your mind. Learn to be in the present moment. Present moment awareness will help you to get connected to God.
  1. Stop scrolling social media like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram during your working time : If you want to scroll on social media, make a schedule of 30 minutes apart from your work time.
  1. Set your things for next day before sleeping : In order to get up early and be productive for the next day, learn to plan and keep your necessary items at one place before going to sleep. When we have a goal Infront of us, we learn to plan and prioritize things in advance.
  1. Reduce your news intake : Reduce the habit of listening to news. Listen to good things, good news, positive happenings. Be a broadcaster of good news.
  1. Increase your water intake : Fix the amount of water intake per day. At present, doctors are advising to drink one and a half liters of water everyday. Water intake increases or reduces according to the weather condition also. Drinking sufficient amount of water is a good mood elevator and it is helpful to have good health.
  1. Learn something new every month : Make a target to learn something new every month and practice that ritual daily to move towards your monthly goal. You are the best one to decide what you want to learn and how much.
  1. Make your bed in the morning after getting up : Early morning after getting up make your bed and then move ahead. Learn to complete the first task of the day. At night, when you will reach your bed, you will enjoy a peaceful sleep.
  1. Spend some time with yourself everyday : Spend a few minutes with yourself each day. Sit alone silently, introspect & reflect. How is my life going on ? Is my life beneficial to others ? Reflect on it. Check your thoughts. Do positive affirmations, this will help in deleting the old negative thoughts. Spend some time in prayer. During prayer talk to God.

Oh lord ! I am yours and you are mine.

Dear Lord ! I surrender myself unto you. Unwanted thoughts are continuously disturbing my mind, please help me. You are all powerful. Help me to overcome these negative unwanted thoughts.

Oh lord ! Help me become a hard working noble person, help me serve all. O Lord ! please bless all.

  1. Ask “Is it worth doing this task?” : Is it going to help me or others? Whatever I am doing is it helpful for me or for others ? If you find it worthless than don’t waste time and energy in such task.
  1. Work that can be done quickly must be done without delay : The work that can be done in 2 minutes must be done immediately. For example- If you are feeling thirsty, don’t procrastinate, do it immediately and refresh yourself.
  1. Take care of your posture : Observe the way you sit, stand and walk. Make it a habit to sit and stand straight. If your back bone is not straight then it will harm your health in the long run. A chair is made in such a way that it helps us  to sit straight. A wooden chair is best to improve your posture.
  1. Make it a habit of reading 15 minutes daily : There is a saying- “Readers are Leaders”. To rise in life, nurture the habit of reading and writing on regular basis. Reading helps to keep our mind active. Reading good self help books helps to increase your knowledge, vocabulary, imagination power and thinking ability. Reading holy books daily also purifies our soul.
  1. Help without expectation : Make it a habit of helping others without any expectations. After helping don’t tell others about it. If you do an act of charity and feel good about it, it’s fine. But, if you boast about your acts of goodness, the result diminishes. Our spiritual Master says- Keep remembering God and keep doing good deeds for welfare of others.

Unconditional love, continuous guidance and untiring efforts of our Mentor  helps us to get better understanding in life, learn good habits to rise and become better in life.
